Adult Cognitive Assessment – WAIS-IV

Understanding Your Adult Cognitive Profile

Assessment Information Sheet – HarbourLight Psychology Melbourne

Adult Cognitive (IQ) Assessment – WAIS-IV - 16+ years old

Every person thinks and processes information differently. A cognitive assessment using the WAIS-IV (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – Fourth Edition) provides a structured way to explore aspects of your cognitive functioning and thinking style.

Rather than focusing on a single “IQ score”, the assessment explores a range of cognitive areas such as reasoning, memory, and processing speed. This information may assist in identifying strengths and areas where support or adjustments could be considered.

The WAIS-IV is suitable for adults aged 16 years and over.

What the Adult WAIS-IV Assesses

The assessment explores:

• Verbal reasoning and comprehension

• Visual-spatial problem solving

• Working memory

• Processing speed

• Overall intellectual functioning

This creates a detailed profile of how you approach learning and problem-solving.

Common Reasons Adults Seek Assessment

People often request an assessment when:

• Work or study feels harder than expected

• They want to better understand learning style

• Adjustments are being considered at university or work
